Social impact
We want a world where every boy and girl can reach adulthood physically and mentally prepared to develop all their potential and have a healthy life full of opportunities.
Gasol Foundation
The Gasol Foundation works to reduce childhood obesity through promoting four healthy habits: Sports and physical activity, a healthy diet, enough hours of healthy rest and emotional equilibrium.
The Foundation works under the premise that the best way to treat child obesity is to prevent it. We recently published the PASOS Study, the first representative scientific study in Spain that measures the levels of physical activity and sedentariness among Spanish children.
UNICEF
Since 2003 Pau Gasol has been a UNICEF Spanish Committee ambassador. He wanted to take advantage of his success as a player to have an impact beyond his professional career: to help the vulnerable and disadvantaged. From the start, his collaboration centered around trips that would allow him to understand the conditions that boys and girls live in, and to make all this known to the public with greater transparency and visibility.
In July of 2019 he was named Global Champion for Nutrition and Zero Childhood Obesity by UNICEF with the aim of tackling problems related to nutrition on a world level so as to guarantee that all children can grow up healthy and realize their full potential.
Pau Gasol Academy by Santander
The Pau Gasol Academy by Santander is a technical basketball program that takes place each year in Barcelona during the first week in July. The aim is to become a point of reference through its integral approach to training, including attention to healthy player habits.
Aimed at children between 8 and 17, the campus has three sections: the Pau Gasol Academy Classic, a program that combines sports and fun so that boys and girls can raise their level of play; Rising Stars, aimed at 36 players selected from among the best in Europe, with the aim of teaching them how to combine sporting development with their academics; and Special Olympics, aimed at players with intellectual disadvantages.
